Yep, same problem here.
If audio is playing, flicking up or down on the Audio Settings button stops the
audio and VoiceOver becomes more and more unresponsive as I try to flick around
the screen. This happened with both an MP3 file and a Daisy book.

This problem only happens when playing audio not when using text to speech. So,
you need to try an mp3 file or some type of audio.
