Hi!
You could change the double tap gesture to anything that might work for you.
There’s settings for changing gestures in the voiceover settings.
I apparently don’t know or remember where they were but i have used them and
tried them out.

Hi!
Yes that’s something that bugs me a lot.
I’ve tried to tell accessibility about this but only gets answers such as talk
to the devs of the webpage that may have the problem.

Angus,
By the way, the split tap will not work on sliders. You can access
speaking rate and several other options on the rotor. If accessing the
rotor is difficult, you can change the gestures used in the Voiceover
settings under Commands. I changed mine to 2 finger swipe left or right.

Angus,
No. Speaking rate is a different item. It is a slider and it is changed by
flicking up/down with a single finger to change the value.

You could look into using the accessibility feature called voice control if

Angus,
Can you use the split tap in place of the double tap? You hold one
finger in the item then tap once with another finger, either hand.

Angus,
Sorry to hear of your frustration. But interestingly enough, you do not need to
be positioned on the item for the tapping. Once you have focused on the item
and it speaks, a double tap anywhere on the screen is sufficient to launch. Use

Thanks to all. Brad, the rotor was the missing step here. Thanks

Forgot to mention, that sometimes you have to double tap on an item to open the
picker, which often appears near the bottom of the screen.

In iOS 13, how does one handle these? I cannot figure out how to
select what I need either via gestures or keyboard.

Good point. I was just wondering though if there was something I might be
missing, some way to change settings to not say that but it is worth reporting,
especially in long picker lists.

Why not report this to Apple Accessibility. Maybe this will be fixed by

Is there any way to get VO not to say "Selected" before every picker item? It's
beyond annoying. This only seems to happen in IOS 7.1.1. It can say "Selected"
after the item but if you need to say, set a time, getting the minutes correct
can be tedium.
