I am using hi Sierra on my iMac 2013 and have no problems sending messages from
any of my email accounts. The only exception was my outlook account, but I was
able to fix it by changing the password to match the password of my incoming
server. Who is your email service if I may ask.
Were they more specific about what they didn't like about SSL? You
could look at the accounts tab / server settings. In there you should find a
drop down list of servers for outgoing SMTP servers. The last item in that list
will be edit.
