I would guess that it's more to do with the internet connection and microphone
quality than any setting. I don't think Siri/dictation rely on settings to pick
your accent. There are simply too many accents for this to work. A Scottish
accent is probably more different from the Queen's English th
I'm actually quite surprised that being from Canada, Siri and Mac dictate both
don't screw up. Sometimes they do, of course, you'll get that with anything.

that makes sense. If you have the American voice selected, and you have a
British accent, it's thinking you're speaking American English. If you have
your dictation said to English UK, then it knows that you're speaking in a
British accent.
