Hi Brad and All,

I’d like to suggest that we all be aware of our tones a bit in these types of
conversations.

First off, when someone posts here with an issue that clearly is problematic
for them or is not a situation that they want to be engaged in, telling them
that they brought it on themselves is absolutely not an appropriate response
here.

Just for reference, I also have restored every machine I have from Time Machine
backups for over a decade now.

Say what you wish, but there is absolutely no way I am going to spend the time
it would take to rebuild my system every time I want to set up a new machine.
That’s simply not going to happen unless there is absolutely no other option.

Donna obviously did nothing wrong here. Time Machine is meant to do this very
thing. Now, perhaps setting up a system from scratch may be cleaner in some
respects, but when one uses the tools available exactly as they are supposed to
be used then it is completely reasonable to expect the process to work as it
should.

Obviously there is something that is not working as it should here. So if any
of us has a positive suggestion of help, that’s great. Share that! If not,
let’s not criticize someone’s approach.

Thanks so much and please have a great day!

Cheers!

Cara
