Try command shift c, I think that opens the computer window.

Yup,
I would just like to add to this, when in the finder, bringing up preferences
with command comma and under general, you can have your hard drives, external
drives, connected iPods/CD’s etc shown in the finders desktop.

Use command shift C. That will give you the same list windows would if you
were in my computer.
