But you can type into combo boxes, type a first letter to jump to a
known entry or add to the list.

With a Combo box, you are not typing in, but rather selecting from a list of
pre-determined choices by using the cursor up/down arrow to place the focus on
the selection you want to choose. In an edit field you will type information
in.
