Safari opening on home page

Hello all, I am unable to get safari to open on my selected homepage. The page I want is selected in preferences, but when I open safari on my macbook air it shows favorites. I just want to see my home page when I first open the browser. Any help is greatly appreciated. Blessings, Stacey Robinson
