Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. Quite honestly, I did mention
Command-F and had forgotten about Command-Option-F, that works for me as well.

The Search box is at the far right of the toolbar, and the command to get there
after interacting is VO + END.
That’s what happens when I type stuff in a hurry, and don’t proof read.
