And of course once you open the context menu one of the first few options is
“Sort ascending”, and the next is “Sort Descending”. Those are for sorting
rather than filtering. You do not need the submenu for the sorting options,
only the filtering options. Sorry if that explanation was not needed
OK, thanks for your answer. That was very clear to me. Now I’m able to figure
out more.
All the best

Yes, VO does not always speak the initial list of row/column headers when you
first enter the headers. But, arrowing up or down will speak either row or
column header. anyway, once you have your desired column selected and have
brought up the context menu, you have those sort and filter options
Hi Phil,
I didn’t want to dought your instructions. I’m sorry if I raised this
impression. I find it very useful if people take the time to answer very
detailed. Thanks for that. And I agree, to assume people know to press Enter is

seems not really to work that way anymore. All I can do is sorting up or down.
But if you could try it out and tell wether it worked still for you in this
version of Numbers it would be a motivation for me t
In numbers, I sort table rows/columns by the following method. I don’t know if
this will work the same with a selection, but it might. A little
experimentation will tell the tale.
for sorting tables by row or column.

Hi,
try to jump to the head of the table at first by pressing VO + Shift + ‚. It
might be another key combination on english keyboards but you might find it
yourself. There you can choose wether to jump to column head or row head. Then
you can open the context menue.
But in terms of the sorting
This one really has me stumped.
After highlighting a row of numbers to be sorted in either a row or column of
numbers, then stop interacting with the table and VO left arrow to the
formatter group, because this seems to be where the sort options are located,
no matter what I select, the sort now
