Hi Devin. I'm not sure what you mean by the demo bar not accessible. I can
listen to all the samples with no problems. I just press enter on whatever
voice I'm interested in and the sample plays for me. As for the celebrity
voices you heard, I don't think we Mac users can buy those voices becaus
Ah, wow. I used to like the accapella voices too, but now as I've said they
just sound like a bunch of samples forced together, I believe "choppy" would
describe it well. I wish the demo bar on the ceroprok site was accessible, but
I did try the Bushomatic thing, and I was mildly impresed.

In my opinion, Will sounds too much like Neospeech Paul, very robotic and
bored. I used to like Heather and Ryan but it seems like Acapela has taken away
the things that made me like them, such as their inflections in their voices
and you can hear them take breaths once in a while. I prefer Sara
Interesting. I'll seriously consider Ceroprok Sarah.

I agree. The Ryan voice from Acapella sounds more authoritative and almost
military-like. Will sounds more layd bak and relaxed. Humanware is soon going
to come out with a brand new Victor Reader Stream which, among other things,
will use the Acapella voices. My guess is that they'll use the
I listened to the Cereproc voices and I think Heather, Tyler and Will from
Acapela sound better than those.

Hey Devin. The options you have for TTS are the default Mac voices, the Nuance

The regular voices cost four voice credits each. The credits cost $5.00 each.
The specialized Europiean voices are 6 to 14 credits each I believe.

What about on jailbroken iOS? In addition, does anyone know of a stable
jailbroken version for the four ass? To the best of my research, I have found
that there is not one of iOS 6.0.1 yet

There is Kate, Paul and Julie. There are also the akapella voices in "speak
it!". They don't integrate with VO though. As far as I know, on unjailbroken
iOS, there are no other voices.

Are there any third-party text to speech engines for iOS? In addition, are the

I think they compare very favorably indeed. At this moment, I'm using the
American English Heather: and, to tell you the truth, I find this voice
actually more responsive than Alex. The Nuance voices-such as come free with
Lion or above-are next in line to the quickness of response of the Aca

Ah, OK. When I get some money, I might try them. But how do they compare with
Alex?

Yes, I almost forgot I had those. The Neuance voices are everywhere now, LOL.
They aren't anywhere as good as Alex though, and the premium voices have the
strange pitch issue. I do like how Tom handles commas.

Ah, thanks. Both are substandard compared to Alex, I know because they are on
read2go and sound like a bunch of poorly made random samples, forced together
to read the text. Cepstral is much worse in my opinionn.

There are also the free ones you get via download if you're running Lion or
later. Those are Nuance and are supplied free by Apple. You have to pay extra
for those if you want to run them using, say NVDA on Windows. I wish we had
Ivona for Mac. But at least the Mac has Alex, which is excellent.
I only know of two, Sepstral and Acapella.
