I noticed this as well. It looks like an interesting product and the
installation is very accessible but it all goes sideways once you run the
application for the first time. To bad bu I like fusion well enough so at

Hi!
Frustratingly the Paralells desktop is still inaccessible.
I have mailed them a few times about this but with no luck.

Hi, I wanted to confirm this.
When I run fusion and boot a VM, is it control-G that is supposed to allow me
to gain access to the vm interface? I just get a bonk sound when I press this
Interesting, thanks, I’m going to check out the mappings as well.

Scott,
After reading Garry's post. I decided to run into the Fusion
keyboard preferences. I looked at the mappings under a couple of the
tabs. Command-G is a valid command to grab keyboard and mouse from the
Mac. Command-control will ungrab and return control to the Mac.

This is what I do as well. Also, I think it was Chris Moore who pointed me at
the command control f to go full screen which is working. Big thanks to
everyone for the suggestions.

I use Fusion with multiple VMs every day and I don't have an issue
reliably getting input captured by the VM.
What I do is use VO to move right along the buttons on the VM
interface. After the "full screen" button I get the name of the VM
read out and when focus is on that any keystrokes go to the
I ran VM a bit ago and this time I did not execute command-g. I did
not do a lot but found things worked just fine. Will need to do more
experimenting.

Very good. For a goof I just tried parallels with their trial option. Talk
about less than useless. Completely and utterly inaccessible. I was hopeful
that over all this time things had improved but no such luck.

Scott,
I do not remember what version of Fusion I started with. I do not
think the force grab function was brought over to version 8. It used to
be on the Virtual Machine menu. I looked at version 8 release notes and
found nothing.
If we can find out what replaces the force grab, we mig
Scott,
Ok here is what I think would be worth studying. I was just in my VM
and my frustration level is still a bit high so will not run it again
for now.
Seems Command-G was on the menu when I first started using VMware.

It does and I’ll do some googling on the command g feature, maybe I can shed
some light on this by playing with it more myself.
Thanks as always ET.
And good comments from Janina this might be worth some communication with
VMWare once I’m more confident it’s not the user behind my keyboard that
I misspoke I meant command G not control G. Command G doesn’t seem to do
anything for me, maybe I’m using it at the wrong time, not sure.

I have never found a reliable way to get into and outof the guest vm.
For me this is a significant frustration.
To
my mind this functionality is a feature we should demand of VMware. I'm
not sure where to file the RFE, but if someone knows or posts one,

Scott,
I do not see that command in my list of shortcuts. When I load my VM
and wait long enough to let Windows fully load. I press Cmd-G to grab
the keyboard and then Cmd-Ctrl-F to enter full screen.

ScottI don’t know about control + g. What sometimes helps is to switch to full
screen mode with cmd + control + f. Then turn it off with the same keystroke.
I also tend to disable voiceover once I am safely in the VM with cmd + control
followed by cmd + f5.
