When I used a VM, I was able to update my Brailliant display.
I had both a windows XP VM and a windows 7, and both updated the display fine.

Out of curiosity, would a VM do it and which OS is the minimum required? I am

A Windows PC is definitely required to update the firmware.

able to be updated through a Windows PC. There is no tool for updating it
through a USB stick or a Mac.

You just copyh the zipped update file to a usb stick.
Plug it into your vario ultra and then you should press a key combination which
