VMWare and capslock key

I'm trying to set the caps lock key as the modifier key for my screen reader (NVDA), but it looks like OSX is grabbing it and interfering so that I can't use capslock+keystrokes. This means I can't setup NVDA or JAWS for a laptop keyboard since they use the capslock modifier. How do I get
