No I did not connect anything until Windows was running. But even if they
were already connected, you can still connect them to the VM from the menu bar.

Oh Dear is this still an issue?
I installed Vmware Fusion 11.1 a month ago and had a hell to get things up and
running.
I can’t remember how i did that but it worked until the evaluation period went
out.
Have you searched through all the vmware knowledgebase?
