Yes, primarily for sending, but having access to the receiving port info is good, as well. This is an AT&T account and not an exchange. In the mail preferences, under server there is an outgoing mail shown, but it is a pop up button and I don’t see how to do anything but select “Dave’s Mail”.

First of all, is this for sending or receiving mail? Unless AT&T uses an exchange protocol, then this information is configured in slightly different ways. For sending messages, open account settings on the Mail app and then click on Server Settings. in this tab you will find a popup with outgo

Received an alert from AT&T to create a secure 16-character key for new upcoming mail changes. Working on setting up the mail client on my iPhone, and am able to find the server settings, port numbers, etc. However I can’t remember where the same information is located on my Mac. Any pointers?
