The only other thing I can think of is to check that Multipage is checked in
the Input tab.
I've just used VueScan to scan a chapter of a book, and everything is working
fine for me.

I can't see what could be wrong with your filename. I've just looked at my
settings and I have the default folder set to:
/Users/anne/Documents/Scans
and the TIFF file name: set to:
The Art & Science+
This works just fine.
I presume you have the TIFF multi page checkbox checked.

The thing is that my file name does not have .tif at the end of it. I was just
using that to show what extention I was using. The file name actually looks
like this without the quotes:
"Image+" OF course, the quotes are not there so it really really looks like
this:
Image+

The filename should not have .tiff at the end of it. Try removing that and see
what happens.
