Thanks Anne, will give this a try. It sure is a bizarre issue that only happens
with numbers

Hello Brian,
I'm wondering whether your verbosity settings could be causing your problem.
Another idea is Navigation settings. I always set the mouse cursor to ignore
the other cursors.
Try creating an activity for Numbers and play around with your VO settings in
that.

Thanks Nick. Like I said the stars and moon must be aligning in a weird way

Hey Tim,
Thanks, yeah no clue and not sure how I am the only one this is happening to. I
have to put together a spread sheet for work, and am having to rely on a
sighted person to do my work for me, quite frustrating. I have tried day after
day to get numbers to work but the same problem of voi
Me neither, for the two days I've had the app. You might try uninstalling it
and downloading a fresh copy from the App Store, or perhaps Google can shed
light on the problem?
As to the formula, I did get things working with a test sheet using the fill
command. I read on a forum that adding a fo

Hi,
Sorry Brian, I've never had that sort of issue with Numbers ever. It sounds
like things are hanging somewhat thus nothing is being entered into your cells.

Hi,
If I'm understanding you correct, then the Fill Down command is what you need.
• Let's say you have some data in B2, C2, D2 and E2 and you wish them added
together and the total placed in F2.
• enter =sum(b2:e2) in F2. Or, highlight B2 through E2 then up to the Insert
menu, down to Functio
Hey guys,
I would love to hear if anyone else is having this issue with numbers, as it is
driving me nuts, and makes numbers unusable. I just started a new spread sheet.
It has five rows and when I go to enter info in to a cell voiceover just
completely stops talking. Ok I figured voiceover is
I've read about fills. I was hoping for a way to have the forumla apply no
matter what, so I don't have to keep filling as I add more rows in the future.

I am writing some of them and grade 2 braille. I wrote some of them on the

Hey Alex,
Try this.
First, try flipping your table around. So, you have your headers across the top
row, at the top of each column: A1, B1, C1, D1, E1. Then, A2 might be, for
instance, date. B2 would be starting milage, C2 end milage, D2 excluded milage.
IN E2, type =C2-B2-D2. Not sure if this
HI Gigi,
I'm learning lots from your Numbers tutorials too, so thank you.
Some of your emails are turning out as symbols to me. Are you using a
non-English character set or something? NOt sure if it's the same for everyone
but some come out as pretty messed up to me.
Cheers,
Nic

Thanks for your reply, but it looks like you turned contractions off at some
point and forgot to turn them back on. I've been there. I got the first
part of your message, but not the second part where things really got
confusing. The formula syntax is okay - I enjoy programming, and am familiar
Hi there
Let me see if I can clear up some things. First, the top row is the role that
voiceOver uses to announce your labels. I got told by somebody that the column
on the left column A, is what voiceOver uses to say the columns. So, you would
not have your formula in the same cell that you hav
If that's the case, how do I add a formula to a cell but keep the cell label?
For the second part, what I want is for each row of column 14 to be
automatically filled in using the values of three other columns in that row.
Specifying, say, g2+h2 will not work for l3, I'd need g3+h3. There has to
Hi,
When focus is on a specific cell and you are entering data into that cell, you
are actually entering the data into the Formula field. This is normal
Spreadsheet behaviour. The entry field is actually separate from the cell
itself. This is how you can know both the result of a given formu
Hi again, and sorry for all the questions about Numbers. I'm trying to add a
formula to a column, a simple subtraction of three other columns. When I hit
equals, I can type my formula, but then the title I gave the column is gone (I
pressed equals on the header cell of the column). If I stop int
