 You can also place   sound files in ~/System/Library/Sounds/ for them to show up system wide. Just a quick not to say that you should NEVER put user files in any subfolder of the /System folder. this is reserved for System files hence the name. If you would like to make the sounds available

I have added the file airhorn2.wav to both the path /system/library/sounds and /users/mark/library/sounds and neither file shows up when selecting to change a system sound, such as Mail or Ichat. When I try to change the tweet sound in Syrinx, there's an option to open a sound on a path, but
