Well, no but neither would perkyduck. They're just keyboards. That would be
great for her own practice, but wouldn't give her visual representations of
dots. Duxbury would automatically translate to braille on windows. Louis or
Brailleblaster would do on mac, but that would be kind'a cheetin
Will that allow her to share the Braille file for marking? I think it has to
be the actual braille so they can mark her proficiency.

Hi jeff,,
Perkyduck is just a braille keyboard. If that's all she needs, go with
mbraille on IOS.

My wife is taking a braille course via correspondence and will need to send

Hi Eric.
I think it is:
www.brailleblaster.org. I am not sure, but I couldn't open the page you sent.
Do you know when the newest brailleblaster has been released.
Best regards Annie.

one of the items you will need is a braille font (there are free sources for
this royalty free font on the web). There may also be other tools, but I would
have to research them to see if they would work.
There are others on here who may have substantially more information than I do.

How do I create electronic braille files on the Mac.
I am teaching braille to a sighted person, ad they report the latest version of
Perky Duck is not compatible with the latest Mac OS operating system.

Well, go to your settings for Braille and set it for Contracted Braille

Input in grade
Hi there!
My braille is a little rusty!
So does this mean you've got to put dots 5 and 6 before each letter to tell the
Mac that the following item is a letter and not a word!
That's of course if I remembered that right!

Hi,
I don't know about the iPad, but it works fine on the iPhone, and not at all
under lion!!! Every time I try to input anything, it takes all of the letters
as their words. Forexample, the word "mail" comes up as "moreailike".
Very strange!

Hi listers:
I have a related question:
I believe this may have been discussed, but I'm finally getting fluent enough
with the Braillino to pair with things. I've found it doesn't work nearly as
well with iPad as with iPhone. And this makes no sense since it's the same OS.

Input in grade 2 would be awesome! I've gotten pretty fast at inputting in
computer braille out of necisity, but prefer grade 2.

Hi All.
I connected my Essys to my Mac this afternoon via Bluetooth and was
disappointed to see that we can only input in grade one braille although the
braille display will show grade two. As those of you know if we connect
braille devices to the I phone we can input into grade two braille.
The documentation is inside the package contents of the app. You should be able
to bring up the shortcut menu for the app and choose the "show contents" option.

That would be louis. The only drawback is that you need a serial or bluetooth
embosser. USB and network are not supported, and since there are no serial
ports on current macs and there aren't that many bluetooth enabled embossers,
you have to get a little creative.
