what is the easiest instant chatting software for the mac? and are there
something like scripts to read last message, insert imodicons, etc?
in sara's podcasts, I hear her skype say something like x person signed
in, is that easily done?

Hi,
you can try Adium and Growl, www.growl.info which will basically read aloud
events such as someone sending yot a message and so on. Have not tried if it
really works but it should, have just installed and configured it breafly.

Adium is the app to use for instant messaging, and you can configure it to
automatically read new messages, of course, these can also be reread with
voiceover if needed. Skype also works well.
