The short answer is yes. simply tell VO to be quiet by hitting your control
key a few times then use ChromeVox commands to navigate that site.

Go in to preferences and click the under the hood tab, then click on
the content settings button. You will need to go down a few headings to
find it. Note that if you do this, if it's anything like safari,
turning off images may prevent some image links from showing up.
