Perhaps you can clarify your requirement? The way I've used hotspots, closing
the associated app renders them inapplicable. When I reopen the app my hotspot
again becomes active.
Only way I know to save them is via the export preferences menu item in the

This actually makes more sense anyway, but i always used hotspots for document
referrals only, but this sort of changes a bit more of my workflow :)

Hotspots are persistent through reboots. I'm not sure whether this was true in
the earliest versions of the OS when they were first introduced in Leopard,
though. They do have to be someplace that VoiceOver can see, though -- else

Whilst playing around with hotspots I also found that you can find out what is
in a particular hotspot!
If you do not want to look at all your current hotspots but want to look at 8
only you press vo+command+8 and it will tell you what you have there!
