Hi,

I have sent this to the accessability team at Apple. It is really anoying
for a person like me who has been on the net since 1994, to have to use more
than 10 hours and still failing to get my apple id accepted in the app
store!

Hi,

I have now used countless hours on something that should

be a simple task. I want to create my apple ID, actually it is created.
Now I want to transfer some free apps to my Iphone.
Here as you can see in the following mails I run t into strange and
anoying problems, First of all your audio captchas are like most others
useless. There are other options simply to present the user with a simple
problem like "wich word are different from the other out of 5, or what is
two plus two. These accessable alternatives to cpatchas have a name wich I
just cannot find.
So the process of creating an apple id is inaccessabl.e at least for blind
users.

When I want to download an App actually a free app after I used webvisum
to get past the captcha without using the useless audio alternative.
After login on the app store, I am asked to review my setttings for my
apple id. Here something goes wrong because there is a field that the app
store decides is filled out incorrectly maybe more.
Here is again another case of obvious total lack of accessability. I am
told that there is a problems with the fields marked in a certain collour
I cannot remember. Crearly this violates both WCAG 2 and section 508.
Since apple with VO and the Iphone has probably the best reputation for
providing blind people free access to computer hardware, I think these
accessability erros should be corrected. It should not be tasks that take
too many resources to fix.

Hi,
I am just now, trying this out again for, at some point it must be
possible to get through this unnecessary and anoying second check of
information that Apple does already have from the creation of the Apple
ID.
this is w where I get stock all the time:

5) You will see a dialog saying this: "This Apple ID has not yet been
used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information."
Click Review and follow the onscreen instructions to sign in with the
account. You will need to enter the 3 digit security code from the back
of your credit card when prompted.

There is a number that the system wants and my screenreader JAWS for
Windows using Itunes latest version of Itunes on Windows XP sp3. JFW can
only announce that there is a code I need to input, but nothing about
wich code it is.
I am going to try this out now, on my Windows 7 machine, Using JFW v 12,
and if that does not work on my Mac Mini 10.7 with voiceover.

apple is doing a fantastic job with the free screen reader Voiceover so
it is really a terrible setback for your accessability efforts that it is
so hard almost impossible even for a very skilled screen reader user to
get accesss to apps for my Iphone!
I hope you can address these issues and have them discussed with the
people responsible for the broader accessability efforts at Apple.

Claus

Hello again,

I wanted to send a quick note to see if you are still experiencing any
difficulties with the iTunes Store. Resolving your issue is important to
me, so please don't hesitate to reply if you need any further
assistance.

Sincerely,

Cheryl

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you.

Hello Claus,

I understand that you have been having some difficulties with purchasing
from the App Store. I realize how eager you must be for a resolution,
Claus, and apologize for the delay in a response to your request. My
name is Cheryl and I will be happy to help in any way that I can.

I have checked our systems and have been unable to locate an existing
iTunes Store account with the email address "c.th...@gmail.com."

It appears, however, that there is an Apple ID called
"c.th...@gmail.com" in Apple's customer database. This means you don't
need to create a new Apple ID, since you can use that Apple ID as your
iTunes Store account name.

Here's how to access the iTunes Store using that Apple ID and its
password:

1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It's available
free of charge from the Apple website at:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

2) Open iTunes.

3) From the Store menu, choose Sign In.

4) Click the Apple radio button, enter your Apple ID and its password,
and click Sign In.

5) You will see a dialog saying this: "This Apple ID has not yet been
used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information."
Click Review and follow the onscreen instructions to sign in with the
account. You will need to enter the 3 digit security code from the back
of your credit card when prompted.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

- If you forget the password for your Apple ID, you can reset it via
Apple's iForgot website:

http://iforgot.apple.com

- If you do not want to use your existing Apple ID for your iTunes Store
account, you can enter a different email address.

- If you wish to change your Apple ID, visit the My Apple ID page at
http://appleid.apple.com and sign in with the current Apple ID. Note
that if your Apple ID is a MobileMe member name, you won't be able to
change it.

Should you continue to experience difficulty accessing or creating an
iTunes Store account, Claus, please reply to this email with a detailed
description of the problem as well as the exact text (if possible) of
any error messages you receive.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for your interest in
iTunes.

Sincerely,

Hi,

Do you have any estimate on how long the investigation will take?
For my own part the patience is running a little thinn since I am still
not
able to download apps neither free nor paid apps, even though the
website
the apple registration has all the necessary information, and I have
received mail telling me that the ID is created.
However When I download a free app and logon through Itunes I am told
to
review my settings because it is the first time I am logged on from this
computer or Itune or both. I am then asked for the I do not know how
many
times to reenter information that I have entered before e.g. naim
address
and credit card information. Finally I am asked to enter a code! I do
not
know wich code so it is hard to enter it, and when I press continue or
submit button, I am taken back to the same page, the only difference is
that
some of the information I habve typed in is removed. I can find no way
of
getting past this screen, and I find it frustrating and I consider this
proces to being almost totally inaccessably for a screen reader user,
wich
is strange since Apple is developping screen readers both in OSX and
IOS.

Apple ID: none trying to create one
Item title: Cannot create AppleId audio captja seems to be the problem
Details:

I am blind and using a screen reader on Windows JFw version 12. I
cannot
get my appleId created. All fields are ok, but I still am taking back t
to
the form where I have to enter information. Since the text captja is
said
to be letters and the audio captja is numbers and a different amount of
numbers each time I enter new numbers wich is strange, I believe
something
is wrong with the audio captja. You ought to change captjas to the
nonegraphical versions with a text question that can only be solved by
a
human not a trawling robot.
