Kevin and anyone else,
When I do this manually, it creates an .m4a file that is 94K in size. I did
this for the whole album. It created 12 songs and they were all 94K and will
not play. Any other advice? What could be wrong with the configuration? Is it
helpful to delete the plst file?

the track list and choosing Create AAC Version. If you're still getting 3k file
names, something's up with your iTunes configuration. A little extra work, but
this way you can spot any problems.

I don't know. I just ripped a CD a week or so ago and it worked OK for me. I
encoded into MP3 at 192 KB stereo. I didn't encounter any problems except I had
to manually tag the files because this CD was an artist demo and that disc was
never submitted to Grace Notes.
