Hi. In the iOS app store, I typed in the keyword zip in the search and I got
all sorts of apps that do what you want including Winzip. I don't know if any
of them are accessible as I don't have a need for an app like that on my iOS
device. I do all my file managing on my Mac.

Shawn,
Hi, so Mac unzips shift folders automatically. I think there is much the
same process on an iPad but I’m not sure simply don’t own an iPad.
Hope this helps? PS just look where the file downloads to you will find
the folder of the zip file there.

Hi All,
I forget, on both a Mac & an Ipad, is there the ability to unzip a zipped file?
Or is there any reason why I would not be able to see a .ZIP file located on
an SD card a friend gave me?
Thanks.

want to compress each folder intoits' own zip file. And like about doing

Probably the easiest solution would be to create a compressed disk image and
place your book folders in that disk image. If you are severely short on disk
space you need to be careful, since at least until the compression has finished
and possibly been verified you will not be able to delete

If you highlight (bring focus to) the folder you want to compress then use the
context menu command (vi-shift-m), arrow through the menu until you get to
compress. Select it and you will have a zip file

Depends a bit on what it is but the first step is to unzip it. That's
done by selecting the file and then opening it (Command-O). That should
create an uncompressed version. It might be the full app to go in your
applications folder or it might be an installer.

Usually no different than otherwise. In the zip file there will either be a
package installer. If so open it as usual and the installer will run. Sometimes
the application itself is in the zip file, then you can just move it to the
Applications folder.

Ok I will have to see what the command o did as I did realize it was
a zip so did not get the expected response. Looked at the zip file in
Windows and there are 2 or 3 nested folders. Just took another look in
it and did not see what might be the installer so will work with it on
the Mac.

Hi -- I've had good luck with the Unarchiver:

It's pretty straightforward, and gets the job done.

HI May,
For zip files that aren't password protected, just press Command-O
while focused on the file, and it is unzipped. It is located in the
same folder as the original zipped file.

Hi everyone. I figured out why my mac wouldn't open the zip files.
For whatever reason my lovely computer decided to go to sleep while it
was still downloading which made the files incomplete although it was
saying they were complete. First time that has happened, smile. So
