Sorry to disappoint, busybox is still used in diablo.
What I like to do however is this:
Grab gnutar from http://xarchive.garage.maemo.org/main/
Install it.
sudo gainroot
rm /bin/tar
ln -s /usr/bin/gnutar /bin/tar
And there you have it, a tar that actually has the full functions :O!

I have gotten a sb2 environment set up on my debian etch machine by half
upgrading it to lenny (testing) where necessary.
sb2 seems to mostly work, but I cannot actually install anything using
apt-get. When I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, I get the following:
/bin/sh: line 1: /usr/sbin/dp
Enjoy (some half-hour I wasted :p. Yes, dbus ain't my strong point):
Normal:
/usr/bin/dbus-send --system --type=signal /com/nokia/mce/signal
com.nokia.mce.signal.sig_device_mode_ind string:"normal"
Flight:
/usr/bin/dbus-send --system --type=signal /com/nokia/mce/signal

Hello everyone,
Just some updates. The SBC task appears to run correctly, it just runs
too slow to be used for more than ~1s by Bluez. The next task is to
speed it up. I will crack on with this, but if anyone fancies a look,
then please feel free and send me advice/patches/abuse/etc.

I've received 4, at intervals of 1 hour, and I believe I only have one
Garage project.
The last one was about 21 hours ago, so it looks like the problem is solved now.

You may try adding "fake" connection. I used this to emulate connection
for such kind of applications while using usb_ether connection with my n800
Here is the command:
$ gconftool -s -t string /system/osso/connectivity/IAP/DEFAULT/type DUMMY

Benoît,
Like I said, messy and complicated ;)
Agreed though, the profiles for different device actions in different states
should be configurable.

George,
I have a problem with my wifi at home which means when connected it will
drain very rapidly.
I use an ad-hoc connection which I believe prevents idling so drains my
battery quickly.
Other users report staying connected to their Infrastructure based wifi for
days at a time.

Someone know if we can use debian package tools :
- dpkg-buildpackage
- deb-sign
on Diablo from the nit (not sdk) ?
I know that busybox tar doesn't have -X option on chinook and this is
needed. But about diablo ?
Thx

Hi all,
It has been a while since we had a discussion about the future requirements
of the extras repository. Since there haven't been any concrete proposals
for what we can do for the short-term, I have made a proposal[1] on the
wiki. With this proposal I am trying to push the repository reform.
