Re: [maemo-developers] Re: 802.11g Ad-Hoc Link?

2006-07-07 Thread Michael P. Lococo
It occurred to me that the fastest way to transfer data to the 770 is over an ad-hoc 54Mbps link. However, it looks to me like the WLAN driver is going into 802.11b (11 Mbps) mode... ... This is, AFAIK, purely a driver issue for modern wireless hardware. This doesn't answer your question in

One time it was drained when I had the audio player opened. I had it play a part of an audio book and didn't bother to close the cover after it was finished, just left it lying next to my bed. The next morning it was powered off and the battery empty. This happened only once though.

While developing an example Eagle application (http://code.gustavobarbieri.com.br/eagle/examples/vareditor.py) that uses GtkTreeView and GtkCellRendererToggle I noticed that it doesn't work as expected. There are several bugs in bugzilla about gtk widget rendering problems, one of which is

There's no need to link it to anything. If the file isn't there, then logging is turned off - at least that's what should happen. Wrong, this just deletes everything that is stored prior to this. And no, what you assume is wrong. Of course the log files should be erasable, and if user

Re: [maemo-developers] Building deb packages for the Nokia 770 is very easy

2006-03-31 Thread Michael P. Lococo
Some applications do separate functionality and depend on external packages when necessary (the gpe stuff does, for example), but you should do so unnecessarily... Clearly, I meant to say that external dependencies should _not_ be used needlessly. Oops, Mike

Re: [maemo-developers] maemo - virtual keyboard replacement and alternative input methods

2006-03-02 Thread Michael P. Lococo
Someone on #maemo told that I may just have to develop a GTK input method. This is the going rumor. To my knowledge no has has actually done any work on an alternative input, although there have been a few inquiries. I think one hitch is that it is difficult to switch back and forth between

Re: [maemo-developers] intercepting magnet induced sleep mode

2006-02-28 Thread Michael P. Lococo
network connectivity is hard wired to shut down with the cover closed. Future firmware upgrades may make this more flexible. Note that there is also a bug filed against this behavior, with the proposed solution being to check for network connections before putting the interface to sleep:

Re: [maemo-developers] Where can I find the sources for the load-plugin?

2006-01-13 Thread Michael P. Lococo
The authors e-mail address is on the page linked in the application catalog. I recall reading some time ago (but can't find the link now) that the load plugin was released under a very restrictive license. This may be oversight or intent on the part of the author, but you'll probably have the

Not having any way to output audio with the current dev image makes it useless for me, and having to install the normal image and get root, xterm and ssh working on it is a tad painfull for something which I do relativly frequent. ... improving multimedia support is one of priority area. I hope

The only problem: both 'free', '/proc/meminfo' and the little status bar plug-in all report far more memory in use than I'd expect to see. I _know_ I deleted the contents of /var/lib/install (as well as ~/MyDocs), and when I install new programs I see my memory used go up. free and meminfo
