Thank you very much for your replies. I had pretty much figured out
that it must be a hardware failure, since WLAN never worked for
me. But now something wonderful has happened. I took the battery out
and let it be overnight as Andrew suggested. Unfortunately, I did not
test the

A patch for the problem has already been created. I would be a little surprised if the patch wasn't included in the final IT2006 release kernel. The beta release definitely did not have the patch so it was necessary to download and flash the updated kernel image.
