of installed applications the dropbear-client is marked as broken. This
seem not to affect ssh-server though, as there is no problems accessing
the N770 from my laptop.

I have just set up ssh on my N770, using dropbear.
Openssh would do the job just as dropbear. With it you could connect
older protocols, aka v1. Nothing against.

Ok, thanks, I'll try this.
But how do I remove the dropbear-client? apt-get returns failure
messages when trying apt-get remove dropbear-client, same message as
when trying to install...?

First stop all dropbear services, aka daemons. Like
/etc/init.d/dropbear stop
Then even graphical app manager, in installed apps, will let
you to remove it in a single click.
Then update the lists and install openssh. Daemon is up by
default on my 770.
Hi, it looks like the postinstall and prerm scripts for
dropbear-client are for bash, so it won't work in /bin/sh in Maemo.
I had to manually edit /var/lib/dgk/info/dropbear-client.postinstall
and dropbear-client.prerm (as root) and replace the == comparations
with a single =.
