I'm not sure I would characterize not performing updates without having to reflash as an outrage against nature but it is more than mildly frustrating. If we consider, for the N800, all updates since January and if it takes 3 hours to update the device plus reload/reconfigure all applications

I'll play with powerlaunch.conf in a bit, but asking just for the sake of more discussion in the list: would it work with overlapping profiles? ie. one power key press toggles softpoweroff, but one powerkeypress immediately followed by (ie. in 1500 msecs) another action does something else?
