Hi,
I use BlueZwitch (desktop widget)to turn bluetooth on/off.
I use WifiSwitcher (statusbar plug-in) to turn wifi on/off.
Is there any desktop widget that allows me control wifi, like I do for
bluetooth with bluezwitch?

Yes alarm must work even if it is powered off. It was so before this upgrade.
Also help of "edit alarm" window says the same behaviour. When the alarm time
reaches, it switches on n800 automatically.
