Hi,
thanks for the helpful hints. I finally ended with reflashing the system, which
didn't cure the problem. But after reflashing the mmc also everything was fine
again.
I guess the system left some configuration stuff in the user folder which
hildon-home subsequently had difficulty to parse.
Hi,
I'm running PR 1.2 on my N900. I'm mainly using it as a mapping device.
Yesterday I replaced the battery. After the reboot, all desktop icons
(shortcuts, widgets) have disappeard except for some bookmarks I saved on the
desktop. Further, I now cannot add any desktop icons. When I'm in
Hi,
additional info: The battery drains, as the following application is
constantly eating 96% of my CPU and 11.4% of my memory:
/usr/bin/hildon-home
Pretty interesting.

Hi,
which guy are you using? internal or gtk? I did not get that working with
internal.
well, this depends :) .
Using the internal GUI, on the map, navigate to a location. Go to the menu,
action, globe, set as position. Then go back to the map and do the same for
the destination. Should
Hi,
Pretty much any of the nav apps for the tablets can save track logs,
including Maemo Mapper, RoadMap and NavIt, plus some of the more
specialized tools like OSM2Go.
just for clarification: In Navit it must be enabled by editing the config file
navit.xml, osm2go does tracklogging, but
Hi,
This is outdated info, maemo-mapper has been able to start the gps bits
for several months now.
ah, cool. Didn't notice that. How do I need to set the preferences so it
automatically starts the internal GPS subsystem via gpsbt?
Thanks best regards,

Hi,
Another question. I can't seem to add POI's In maemo mapper. Is there
another tool that can create a POI from within mapper.
at least there's track = add marker. But the feature seems to be broken
anyway:
Hi,
Hello, I'm wondering does anyone know of a logging program that would tap
into the gps inside the n810. I'm driving around looking for photographic
locations to shoot and I want to have my n810 tracking where I've driven in
a given city and then be able to merge that onto a map so that
Hi,
I just managed to reinstall a working copy of Numpty Physics on my Diablo
installation. If anyone also hits the Invalid Strok Def crash, here's one
possible solution:

Hi Mark,
If Maemo Mapper would use the *vector* OSM data and do routing on the
device
this obviously would be great. But hey, it's open source, you can hack it :) .
IMO MaemoMapper is an excellent open source app, though one always desires
even more features.
(and were a bit more stable,
Hi,
(exactly zero of
the available mapping applications are anywhere nearly as
user-friendly or stable as my Garmin GPS),
I agree that a dedicated mapping device has its advantages, but also it's
limitations. My Garmin just retired, as I'm now using the N810. I'm on tour

Hi,
obviously there's no ready-to-use solution for protecting a N810 on a bike
(rain, dust and shocks). I therefore decided to go with an Otterbox 2000.
I put some info online¹, just in case it is useful for others. Still missing:

Hi,
I've just written a small Ruby script which can convert GPX waypoints to a
sqlite file to be used in MaemoMapper:

Additionally I have updated the POIs for europe this weekend, so there's some
material to play with the above script :) :
Hi,
I wend out shopping for an 8GB SDHC card for my n800, and was surprised
by the enormous range of prices -- almost an order of magnitude. Of
course there's issues of quality and brand-recognition, but the biggest
difference seemed to be between the class of the card. There were cards

Hi,
2.Do I need to be on the internet to use the GPS?
no.
Any Tips on how to use it?
No, as it depends on personal taste and needs.
Dose it just do streets or can I use it in the woulds to and boating?
The GPS jsut tells your device where you are. It does not matter if there
are streets
Hi,
It's not clear whether the debian package will work with a 4GB

not sure what debian package means in this context, but my device boots from

Hi,
But, that said, I haven't checked how this interacts with installing the
new OS update. Anyone tried it yet?
at least I do not get it to work. I'm not sure though if it is due to the OS
update. Might be a problem of the operator :) .

Hi,
there's a talk about Qt on Maemo this afternoon[1]. I couldn't find any
information about live streams. Does anyone know if there are any (or even
not)?

Hi,
Sorry, I completely missed that issue. To my knowledge, Maemo Mapper
can't import map databases from other programs, it can only download
new sets of tiles from the repositories you set up.
AFAIK it stores the tiles in a sqlite3 database file. So if you find a way to
feed your tiles into
Hi,
Related but different question: Can the N810 internal GPS be used by

I've just discovered that TangoGPS (

Hi,
Is there any UVC (USB Video Class) or UAC (USB Audio Class) gadget
driver developed for maemo?
for usb audio there's an ALSA driver snd_usb_audio. No clue though if there
are efforts to include it into IT OS. Would be cool.

Hi,
I've been looking into booting from the sdcard and was wondering why

Hi,
my apologies for cross-posting.
I just compiled Gebabbel[1] 0.3 successfully for a Nokia N810. The binary is
available on sourceforge[2]. There's no installer, so you first need to
manually install gpsbabel[3] and Qt4[4]. Then download the Gebabbel archive
for Maemo and extract it. You
