Flashing your operating system will delete all data and programs! (It's
as if you just unboxed the device, brand new.) So, I'd recommend the Red
Pill method. To back up your data, you need to back up the hidden
directory /home/user/.gpe/ - I'm not sure if the backup and restore app
now handle

And, went to Maemo where the 2.8 apps are shown, go to them and click
install and get moved to a page with the [install] repo name etc, NOT an
auto install to the App Manager? What is the recommended next step? Thanks
