How can I add a line in the header that reflects the email address of the
poster of the message? It seems only the user (recipient) can be shown by a
variable?
thanks

The problem is you cannot disable the VERP bounce probe (ping) even if you
disable VERP in the mm_cfg.py

This is not the point here, J.C.
The important point is the fact that mailman did introduce a new way of
handling bounces without a way to opt-out of this new way. Normally every
software package that introduces a new way of doing a certain task (opposed
to a complete new functionality) there is an

This new VERP probe is ridiculous. One of my customer on a cpanel system
had thousands of unsubscribes because of it. Why? Cpanel does not
support in its current default exim setting VERP and there was no need
for it because it is not on by default in mailman. Now out of the blue
it is used even th
Can one of the mailman pros on the list enlighten me about how the bounce
management works in the background?
Let's say the list is set to suspend a member after 3 bounces and then
delete him after 3 more attempts, each 7 days apart. So lets say one member
has had 3 bounces and is suspended. Now su

Is it possible to have a new feature in the new version of mailman where a
site administrator can limit each list individually by how many members and
how much traffic it can have and also set a default for these values in

Also, it would be great to sort the member list by domain and by

Here is what I do not understand from the discussion:
Mailman in its current form is slow and if personalization is turned on
users cannot even get into the mailman site anymore because it takes up all
available resources.
We are running a list with about 50,000 subscribers.

Ok, I just got off the phone with AOL's postmaster dept. and found out the
whole scoop why they have to strip out the To: address from complaints.
There was a lawsuit of breach of privacy so AOL can no longer share the To:
field in their feedback loop.
So here is the solution:
Mailman needs to crea
Hello,
Can someone explain the exact mechanism mailman uses for unsubscriptions? I
see some of them are done without a confirmation and some members get an
email with a token asked to return it to confirm their unsubscription.
I have played around with mailman but are not able to figure out how it
So what happens when the server is normally rebooted? Does mailman remember
where it stopped? Does it start all over again? Or is the mailing just gone?

I have a question in regards to mailman's recovery abilities.
Let's say mailman is running and sending out messages to a large list and
the machine crashes or is rebooted, does mailman pickup where it stopped? Or
is the run gone forever?

I have a problem that might affect lots of people who send emails to large
lists.
AOL requires an additional header in the emails identifying the recipient
for the feedback loops to unsubscribe AOL users who complain.
So how do I add an additional header with a field?
Thanks for all the help!

Whenever I have a mailing list send out 30,000 emails python takes up about
95% of cpu time and it is impossible to get into the mailman admin
interface.
The apache server responds just fine to other requests.
Is this normal? I hope not, ;-)
Any advice?

I noticed that the terminology used to accept messages for moderation is not
always the same. In some screens the term "approve" is used and in others
"accept". Can this be changed in the next version so the term is always the
same to avoid confusion for new admins?
thanks

Hello,
Is there a way to restrict mailman lists to a certain amount of users?
What I am missing is a way to restrict each list to a maximum amount of
members on a site basis.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
