[Mailman-Users] the "subscribe" button failed to deliver email. How 2 debug?

2002-03-07 Thread Michael C. Brenner
I just installed mailman on a FreeBSD 4.4 system with qmail. I created a new list and received an email that it was created. I went to the info page and tried to subscribe. The subscribe script ran okay because the subscribe request is in the pending queue. There is a non descript bounce error

I am new to Mailman, which I like on the whole, having used Majordomo, and have been reading this mailing list (as a digest), which is really useful (but see 3) thank you. 1. I would like email commands to do my admindb approvals. Is there any way? Next version? 2. In a moderated list posting

I replied off the list last to to a similar post. When I moved my ~475 lists, I hit the same problem. What I ended up doing was: foreach list in lists do dumpdb $list/config.db | grep admin_password_line | some awk (to rip out the password column) | some sed (to get rid of some funky characters)

[Mailman-Users] Can you set a list's password via the command line?

2002-03-07 Thread James Madill
In moving the 175 mailing lists from one machine (version 2.0.1)  to another (version 2.0.8), all of the list passwords are no longer working. Is there a way to set a list's password via the command line?  I'd hate to have to manually set each one & send it to the list admin(s). -- James

Hmmm, I had the same situation but I noticed it before I tried anything and just chown'd it all. I didn't look any further because I knew how to fix it. I don't _think_ I untarred as root. My only thought (fleeting at that) was that it was an artifact of being a bz2 tarball. Bill W -

Here's a great way to help with Mailman even if you don't fancy yourself a hacker. Documentation, as always, lags far behind. I'd be happy to work with someone (or perhaps a group of someones), on the technical side, but a good technical writer I'm not. -Barry --- Begin Message --- X-Follow
