You tried to create an alias but either the rights were not setup properly for accessing the file /var/mailman/data/aliases or your mta is not Postfix. As a general rule, you should run /var/mailman/bin/check_perms - though this file does not always catch the proper rights necessary to for the /va

Dude! When installing from source, don't put the source files into your target directory. Put them in your home directory or in /usr/src/mailman. When you run the install from there, it will create the directories it needs. Once the install is done, you need to run check_perms -f Good Luck - Jon
