Otherwise, a user who is subscribed with the long version of address, and

If I choose Yes, w/forward and I enter my own text, it sends both the
canned response and my text as separate emails.
If I choose Yes, w/discard and I enter my own text, it sends nothing.
How do I get it to send my text without the canned response?

Hello,
Yes, the defaults are exactly as you write except for SMTP_MAX_RCPTS
set to 400.
I'm reluctant to try DELIVERY_MODULE = 'Sendmail' because of
so many warnings of possible problems - is it worth trying
anyway?

Sounds like your users have selected so-called plain text digests
the formatting of the digests.
For those who have never seen this digest problem, I include an
excerpt from yesterday's digest for the Mailman-user group (no
criticism of the poster, btw - this is a common problem).

The reason why we chose plain text rather than MIME, is that users
tend to be a bit paranoid about email attachments these days... and I

Mailman a bad

Thank you anyway, and let's hope that future versions of Mailman make
it easier to use the software on sites that run multiple lists, where
each list needs different configuration options.
