The Enterprise Data Warehouse Global Customer Operations team is currently looking for seasoned Software Development Engineer with a heavy programming background. This individual should be equipped with Java/Open Source technology experience and has a proven track record of delivering high quality BigData solutions. As part of this team, you will be responsible for the delivery of solutions on top of the Hadoop Big Data platform implementation and will be playing a key role in this huge technology pivot. You will not only help train our existing staff making the leap over to our new technologies, but you will also empower the team to approach problems differently. These solutions drive business value from powering the most critical business decisions to powering how the site behaves through various avenues of personalization. This entails working with the delivery team and business partners to flush out requirements, complete solution design, development and ultimate delivery to the end consumers. Responsibilities: - Develop various facets of the Hadoop ecosystem, data processing, and Map Reduce jobs. - Define development standards and design patterns for Hadoop-based Development - Prototype creative solutions quickly - Provide timely and appropriate communication to business owners, stakeholders, and users on issue status and resolution - Drive roadmap; manage priorities, projects, resources, issues and risks effectively General Responsibilities: Design, develop, debug, and modifies components of software applications and tools. Drive technical direction at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects. Design, spec, schedule and provide quality implementation of a component or feature (typically 1-3 months in duration). Provide alternative solutions to a given problem. Resolve problems and roadblocks, with management assistance if required. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure. Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others. Work collaboratively with all members of technical staff. Collaborate with program management and testing peers in the development of assigned components. Participates in and provides input to requirements definition. Usually provides solid judgment calls and tradeoff analysis. Qualifications: - Passion for Big Data - Programming in shell scripting, and Python/Java. - Hands on development skills around Hadoop, Hive, Pig, and Map Reduce. - Knowledge and proven experience on building ETL solutions, MPP systems (Teradata, DB2, etc.,), Object-oriented design, and large scale data processing. - Experience with working in an Agile/SCRUM model - Background in Data warehousing principles, architecture and its implementation in large multi-terabyte environments.
