The repository of your 1.2 site is not compatible with 2.0.1 so has to be
migrated. The easiest way to do this is to export your entire repository as
a package and then import it into your 2.0.1 site. Other than that,
everything else should be compatible with a couple of API exceptions noted

We currently have MGOS1.2, on Ubuntu 7.04. I am thinking of rebuilding
a new server with MGOS2.0.1 and Ubuntu 8.04. Can we use the previous
maps/sites created for MGOS1.2 in 2.0.1?
Has anyone had any luck installing MGOS2.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.04?
I have seen the tutorials for Ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10,
It has already been logged by someone else.

To be frank no. It's more likely something such as a filter or styling or
something in the data that causes the provider some serious grief. The trick is
to figure out which layer is the likely culprit.
Another possibility is that some custom API coding is doing something incorrect

I've restarted everything.I'm stumped. I found your post about this

How did you manage to get IIS 8.0 running on Windows 2000? Are you using .NET?
Microsoft changed the behavior of Applications pools at some point so that they
