What version did 2.0.2 use for fdo (3.3?)
What version is used with 2.1. I have 2.1 installed and possibly my fdo is
an issue as maps seem to not load all the time.

Well, first, I'm assuming that your alias is set up correctly...but
aside from that, the only difference that I see between the 2

The SQL Server 2008 provider has had a lot of work done on it to improve
general reliability. Unless you have a good reason for staying with 2.0.2,
you should go with the latest release (2.2)

A Layer Definition can reference a Feature Source or Drawing Source

keep up to date, problems get fixed in new releases
anyone having issues on a older release is wasting time

To be honest, 2.0.2 has worked very well for what we used it for. I have 10
sites running for various clients and it performs very well. I am in the
process of upgrading and had 2.1 installed but will move to 2.2.

Interesting Discussion, I didn't know you could alias the path to a DWF.
Where in the DWF Drawing Source do you designate the ALIAS?
There is ADD/DELETE/DOWNLOAD/MARK within the Maestro Dialog box, but no
place for the ALIAS path...

The reason we dispense this advice often on this mailing list is because
unlike Autodesk, we as a community lack the resources to actively support
older releases of MapGuide Open Source.
If things are working fine with your older release, there's nothing stopping
you from continuing to using it. B
There's no UI option in Maestro, because I don't know whether DWF files *can*
actually be aliased.
No one has actually confirmed whether what has been suggested in this thread
actually works.
