Can you Verify if other formats work ? such as ECW or Mr' SID ? that can
help you to know if it is a general problem or only at this format/file.

Did you try to insert another layer (in t the Map) from the same
geographical area on top of the raster ?
Maybe it is just matter of coordinate's problems ?
