I would concur with Jackie...sounds like user permissions issue. I generally
have issues connecting to network drives each time I reload a new version of
Mapguide because I forget to change the Log On service properties. Go to
admin services and open the properties for Mapguide Server. Under Log
Does the alias appear if your restart the MapGuide service?

The MapGuide Server service runs under an user account which may not have
access to your mapped V: drive
Fix the permissions for this mapped drive or change the user account which
the MapGuide Server runs under
