I should have indeed tested http://servername:8008/ ... it is not accessible.
I wonder if there is a firewall on top of others in our company. I check
this.

Is http://servername:8008/ accessible?
If so, then start trickling down. Do these urls check out?

http://servername:8008/mapguide/mapagent/index.html ?
http://servername:8008/mapguide/fusion/templates/slate/index.html

traffic on port 8008:

I restarted the services MapGuide Server and Apache Mapguide.
But it doesn't change anything.
