Yes I'm trying to make the taskpane wider for the exact reason you state
because a lot of users complain it's too tricky to grab the side and expand
it.
I'm not sure if enlarging the cursor would help but it's worth a shot. It
seems to be the zone where the cursor changes to the re-size option is

Another way to solve the problem, just modify the underlying CSS file.
1) Open limegold.uncompressed.css and modify this section (around line 51):
#SplitterArea .jxSplitBarHorizontal {
width: 5px;
background-color: #ff;
border-top: 1px solid #00;
border-left: 1px solid #00;
}

is it possible to set up a button to resize the taskpane.
I am using MG OS 2.5, IE10, Maestro 4.5 and the LimeGold template.

Are you trying to make the taskpane wider? The user already has that
on-screen option. You just have to put your mouse cursor over the taskpane
frame edge and the cursor will change to the re-size mode. It is a bit
tricky though, perhaps the tolerance of the re-size cursor could be
enlarged?
