Large buffers have never been correctly implemented in MapInfo Professional. MapInfo
are fully
aware of the problem since I've nagged them about it se
Check what kind of projection you are using i.e., equal area, mercator,
conical, etc. I believe your best bet to preserve the real distances
are with an equal area projection.
