Hi Denis

The UT is a light version of FME from Safe Software and it works the same
way. This mean that you can run it from the commandline, from a batch file
or from a MapBasic program. The command is

C:\mapinfo\ut\imut.exe mappingfile [- keyword Value] [- -macroname value]

the key in controling UT / FME is the mappingfile

if you go to your temp directory while UT is runnig you can find the
mappingfiles it is using

if you go to ftp://ftp.safe.com/fme/ you can find the documentation to
fme, here you can see how to change the mappingfiles.

I've got a .tab file full of information that I need translated to
Microstation. The Universal Translator option works well in getting the
file into Microstation format but it clobbers the symbology. I think I can
fix the problem if I could control which Microstation seed file is used by
the translator. Looking into DesignCommon.fmi I see the code to make this
option visible in the translator dialog box but have been unsuccessful in
getting it to work. So far I've simply uncommented the lines that appear
to
control the appearance of the dialog box. I've also modified the various
seed files supplied with UT with no effect.
There must be a way to open up the Universal Translator front end(dialog)
so
the user has more control over how the translation occurs.
Any help would be appreciated.
