MI-L Listing Servers and Networks

When adding a new DAta Source Name (DSN) for SQL Server, the wizard takes you through dialogs gathering up information. What I want to know is how does it know what Servers and networks are available? I assume it's via a call to some API function, but which one? (And can I call it from MapBasic?)
