To Simon - I'm not sure about ver 6.5, but as I recall, MI uses Installshield to do the installation. You can start an Installshield installation with a special qualifier (-r) , that will gather all the user supplied information under the installation in a iss file. Afterwards you can use this

Take a look at the function that creates a map filename. In most of the example sets this function is called CreateUniqueFileName and can be found in the miUtilities.asp library. (Of course, this only applies if you're using ASP). I assume that your predecessor changed the code for some reason

Dave I have also had a look, and my sales reap has emailed me the product info. It doesn't appear to include any mapping software. All mapping and capture software is listed as 'Optional Software'. I doubt that the optional software would accept MapInfo tables. So you will have to persevere
