Hi,
Just to let you know that we have a meeting at Cardiff International Arena.
This will be the 10th Anniversary of our formation which is quite a
milestone, especially as it is run by users for the benefit of users!
This time we have talk on applications using Spatialware, how MapInfo is
Thanks for the suggestions (original Q below), which involved the use of
text files to store the info I'm passing around. However, I've gone for DDE
linking because it's a bit more flexible to mess around with on the fly.
A question - is it possible to pass array variables using DDE? If I
Hi Listers
I have a problem:
I wan't to be able to save my MapInfo 6.5 workspace as a MapInfo 6.0 for
backward compatibility.
Has anyone made a solution for this problem? Any code-samples out there?
Thanks

I don't hink you can use arrays using this method - however, as you've got
your DDE link established you could use the RemoteMsgHandler() to accept a
message which you interpret and respond to, more powerful than just
'peeking' at global variables because you can build in more logic at
Hi all,
there are any way to insert a picture or text to be always avilable in Message
Window??
I never realize something useful for that window...
I would like to use it as a Legend Window for a raster file.
Thanks in advance

Looks like you've been had by one of the gotchas in MapInfo Pro's
repertoire of idiosyncrasies. Don't feel bad, because many other users of
the product have been confused too, at one time or another.
The problem is that the functions CentroidX(Obj) and CentroidY(Obj) break

Dear List,
I am looking for a way to write into a *.mif file and change the header before I am
going to Import the mid/mif files.
Only line 5 should be modified.
The entry NR INTEGER should be changed into MZ FLOAT.
The whole modification should be implemented into a Mapbasicscript.
Any help
If some of you have not made up your mind about attending MapWorld in
November, I noticed that Southwest has some pretty good prices for San

Hi Jacques,
Back in version 4.0/4.1 we had a similar problem with the tranlated Danish version.
The Raster submenu was only accessable by name, and since it was translated into
Rasterbillede we were in a fix.
As always, I fear the only route to succes lies in utilizing the Windows API
I have a parcels table and a flooplain table. I am trying to figure out the
sql string that will select all parcels that do NOT intersect the objects in
the floodplain table. I know Mapinfo now has an invert selection button
function, but i am trying to incorporate this query into a MapX
There is an Arcinfo function able to do that. It is called GRIDLINE. Keep
in mind that there is always a bit of manual corrections to do after such
kind of automated vectorization. It depends on the complexity of the input
raster.

David,
I never had any problem transfering MapInfo information to ArcView and vice
versa. I simply use Universal Translator to convert shapefile to tab. Keep
in mind that the shapefile can't contain more than one type of entity (line,
point or poly) in the same layer and DO NOT support text
To whom it may concern:
I was just wondering if it is possible to know where the page break is
within a browser window? I am aware that this will fluctuate depending on
the page settings. However, is there a way to determine where the break
occurs once you have set the page settings and opened
The Search feature is back! Now you can search by product type,
category, date and/or keywords over 360 free utilities and tools
at http://www.directionsmag.com/tools/. Search by author has
been requested also, and of course, some way to upload new tools
again is also in the works.

And what about having the file name and not the url listed for non-resident

And how about being able to modify those urls?

Thanks Bill for the reply,
I saw your reply to almost the same question last year in the thread. You
are right the site is no longer working. I finally trace it at the following

I have added to the BETA section ( www.paris-pc-gis.com

Disperse_centro creates tables with centroids dispersed in various positions
along a circle around the original centroids. It can be useful for those who
want to make multiple point thematic
I have had problems for years going from ESRI to MapInfo and vice-versa.
Problems include ArcView shapefiles supporting more nodes, MapInfo
supporting self-intersecting polygons, strange and custom projections that
ArcView does not store in the shapefile, raster registration files (tfw), 3D
I've already asked for:
1. Search by author
2. A way to upload files and URLs
3. A way for authors to modify their own entries
I think showing the URL instead of file name is better because it
indicates that the file is on an external site so people know
they are headed to a new site if they
I've been told by year end to expect a laptop replacement loaded with Win 2000. Will
MapInfo Pro v 5.0 run under Win 2000 or should I nudge the boss to finally upgrade to

Hi all,

this? Is not every line either one direction or the other? How can I have

Hi,
I have a few maps of different canadian provinces to produce. Does anybody

Zaini,
One way to go, could be (have not tried that myself) to use Adobe
Streamline 4.0 and then import it to Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia
Freehand with the plugin of MAPublisher from Avenza.com, but that will
be an investment of 3 new programs for you if you dont have them
already :)
Dear Mappers - has anyone had dealings with an imagery provider called
Digital Globe (used to be Earthwatch)? If so, I would be interested in
hearing about your experiences with the company

Michael,
I can think of at least two possible culprits.
One, If one end of the line is overweighted with nodes, this can pull
the direction arrow to the end and hide it.
Two, and this one stumped me for some time, the line that is missing the
direction arrow could be a member of a
It is done in a 2 step process:

Perhaps even like this (not tested):
